Baker starts with two key ideas of“coherence” and“implication” in pragmatics. Implication is text does not mean it is not coherent; rather, it may strengthen the coherence, but during the translation process, the translator has to decode and display the implied message from the source language to the target language. Pragmatics emphasizes communication in real situation or cultural context. For example, the complex variables and this calls for the translators to command profound knowledge and learn from the translation experiences to be capable of handling the complexities.
